Soweto giants battle for Nwabili’s services

A Soweto bragging rights between bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for the signature of sort after Super Eagles shot stopper Stanley Nwabali beckons.

Nwabali is set for a big money move from South Africa Premier League Soccer club Chippa United after his exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates are understood to be keen on the player’s services, sources have confirmed.

Nwabali played all seven matches for the Super Eagles and was influential throughout the tournament.

The 27-year-old has been with Chilly Boys since 2022, having joined from Nigerian club Katsina United.

According to sources, Chiefs are still an option for the keeper while perennial rivals Orlando Pirates are now believed to be monitoring the situation.

“Big clubs are always looking for quality players and it is not surprising that there has been interest in the player from those clubs,” said the source.
