Serah Matthew shines as Nigeria secure 13 medals in Arm wrestling

Sarah Matthew, 70kg female, clinched 2 gold medals in Right and Left Hand arm wrestling event held at Cedi Hall, University of Ghana.

Two of her compatriots, Mausi and Olabisi also made a podium finish with gold to help Nigeria sustain the top contest on the medal table of the 13th African Games.

Arm Wrestling is one of the few sports that made debut in the 13th African Games 2023. Below is Nigeria’s medal distribution for arm wrestling.

President of the Nigeria Arm Wrestling Federation, Mr. Jackson Olatunji was impressed by the performance of his athletes who had a short time of preparation before the African Games. He however promised better medals win for Nigeria in subsequent outing.

The arm wrestling event recorded history as Marie Laleye won the first African Games medal for Benin Republic.
