Saudi club battles European giants for Osimhen

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli have joined Chelsea and PSG in the race to sign Super Eagles forward and reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen.

According to Il Matino via Calcionapoli, the Saudi-based club have reignited their interest in the world class striker who looks set to end his association with Napoli this summer.

Al-Ahli had attempted to sign the 25-year-old last summer by offering a staggering fee that would have made him the most expensive African player and were ready to offer a mouth watering salary as well but failed in their pursuit.

The Royals finished a distant third in the just concluded Saudi Pro-League season, having garnered 31 points less than champions Al-Hilal and 17 points fewer than second placed Al-Nassr who have the league’s top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.
It appears that Al-Ahli wants to close the gap on Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr by signing Osimhen but will face an arduous task of convincing the lanky forward to dump European football.

While they will be ready to activate the Napoli marksman’s release clause and also offer him a bumper salary, he is unlikely to consider a move to the Saudi Pro League.

It has been reported that the Nigeria international favors a move to the Premier League at the moment.
