SCORENigeria can exclusively report today that NFF have tabled an offer of same $50,000 [N79M] monthly salary to Jose Peseiro to remain as coach of the Super Eagles.

Peseiro’s contract effectively ended with the recent AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

He met the AFCON semifinal target set for him by his employers and so the offer for renewal of his contract.

The salary of the Portuguese coach has dominated his time with Nigeria after the then sports minister Sunday Dare assured the Federal Government will foot his initial $70,000-a-month salary.

Cash-strapped NFF have had to literally battle to pay this amount since Peseiro’s appointment in May 2022 and it is on this account that the coach had to take a huge pay cut of $20,000 every month to go on to lead the Super Eagles to an eighth AFCON Final in Abidjan earlier this month.

“He has been offered by the NFF same $50,000 monthly salary because that is what they can afford,” a top source told SCORENigeria.

“The ball is now in the court of the coach to accept this or reject it.”

Peseiro himself has said in recent days that he has at least seven offers before him and he will in the coming days decide what is best for him.

He has missed out of the Algeria top post after the North African country opted for the Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic.

He has also previously been linked to top Egyptian club Zamalek.
