With coaches jostling to replace departing Jose Peseiro, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have settled for Emmanuel Amuneke as the new helmsman for the Super Eagles.

Daily Sunsports gathered that all but two members of the Executive members of the football federation have accepted to have the former Golden Eaglets coach the new man in charge of the Super Eagles.

According to a source close to the President of the NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, the choice of Amuneke resonate with members, especially with the limited time before now and the World Cup qualifiers.

“You are aware that the federation is aligning with the calls to have an indigenous Nigerian coach, the choice has been narrowed down to Amuneke. Two factors informed this decision, first is the exploit of Cote d’Ivoire coach, a local coach who won the AFCON 2023 for the nation. Again, the time frame was considered, hence majority of the members settled for Amuneke.

“However, there are dissenting voices among the board but that may not be able to stop the announcement of Amuneke as the new Super Eagles coach. But obviously, the buck stops at the table of the president,” the source informed.
