Manu Garba returns as Golden Eaglets coach

The Nigeria Football Federation’s Board has announced the appointment of Manu Garba as the new Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets, Nigeria’s U17 boys team.
Garba previously held the same role and led the team to victory in the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013, making Nigeria the champions for the fourth time in this category.
Garba’s squad in 2013 included several notable players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Musa Mohammed, Chidiebere Nwakali, and goalkeeper Dele Alampasu.
The team finished as runners-up in the African U17 Championship after losing to Cote d’Ivoire on penalties. However, they bounced back in the World Cup, winning their opening game against Mexico 6-1, drawing 3-3 with Sweden, and dominating Iraq 5-0. They continued their impressive run, beating Iran 4-1 in the Round of 16, Uruguay 2-0 in the quarter-finals, Sweden 3-0 in the semi-finals, and finally beating Mexico again 3-0 in the final to win the title.
Garba, who is a former Nigeria international player, will begin his duties immediately, preparing the team for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Championship, which will be held in Ghana next month.
