Lobi Stars defender wants Super Eagles call up

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s performance at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire has thrown up more possibilities for home-based players to aspire for places in the Super Eagles set up.

One of such is Lobi Stars’ defender, Victor John Ekioke.

A former player of Warri Wolves, Ekioke believes he has what it takes to play at the world stage with the Super Eagles, demanding the Technical department of the NFF digs out facts on his performance.

“ I joined Lobi Stars in the mid season from Warri Wolves and I can bet my performance should qualify me for a call up to the national team,” Ekioke said.

As a defender, Ekioke possesses long shots on goal, he’s a good passer of the ball and also endowed with long throw-in.

Chairman of his team, Dominic Iorfa attests to Ekioke’s potential. “It was good we got him from Warri otherwise he was rotten away with nobody aware of his capabilities. Not until he started playing in the NPFL people started noticing him and I know a number of clubs have enquired about him.”

Ekioke can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder and a right back apart from his traditional central back position.
