Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has opened up about a tense exchange with referee Michael Oliver during Sunday’s thrilling 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. Walker expressed frustration over Arsenal’s use of “dark arts,” particularly in the lead-up to the Gunners’ first goal.
Walker was caught out of position after being called over by Oliver for a discussion, which allowed Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori to capitalize on the opportunity, curling in an equalizer to cancel out Erling Haaland’s opener.
Arsenal then took a 2-1 lead when Gabriel headed home, adding to City’s woes. However, after Leandro Trossard was sent off just before half-time, Manchester City mounted a comeback. John Stones netted a late equalizer to ensure the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Reflecting on the game, Walker admitted that Arsenal used “dark arts to their advantage,” contributing to his frustration over the first-half events. Despite the setback, City managed to salvage a point in the final moments.
