Barca, Spurs, Newcastle put Ndidi transfer on hold

Recuperating Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been one of the top performers at Leicester City for the past few years, although he has not had the most impressive season so far for the Foxes.

This is not due to his performance on the pitch. When fit, Ndidi has been an important part of the midfield that has helped carry the Foxes to the top of the Championship in impressive fashion.

In the first half of the season, Ndidi played 21 times for Leicester in the Championship, scoring twice and assisting five times, impressing alongside Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Winks in midfield.

However, an injury suffered in a victory over Cardiff City has put him on the shelf for several months, and he is not likely to return to the field for many months.

Ndidi missed the African Cup of Nations this year due to an injury and missed the majority of his side’s run as they look to clinch the league title and promotion back up to the Premier League.

TeamTalk reported that both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were targeting a move for Ndidi in January, although his injury in December was likely the reason that no bid was made for the 27-year-old.

Barcelona was also linked with a move for the defensive midfielder, as they search for a replacement for long-time player Sergio Busquets, following his move to Inter Miami in the summer.
