Nigeria completed a perfect Group C campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3–1 victory over Uganda at the Fez Stadium in Morocco, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the group.
The Super Eagles dominated proceedings from the outset and took a deserved lead in the 28th minute through Paul Onuachu. The striker made amends for an earlier missed opportunity by stretching to poke home a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru after a swift attacking move.
Nigeria continued to control the game and created several chances before the break, with Dele-Bashiru again influential in midfield and attack. Uganda struggled to cope with Nigeria’s pace, particularly down the flanks, while goalkeeper Denis Onyango was briefly troubled by an ankle injury but managed to continue.

The Super Eagles almost doubled their advantage early in the second half when Chidozie Awaziem blasted wide from close range, while Victor Osimhen later headed over after meeting another Dele-Bashiru delivery.
Nigeria eventually made their dominance count in the 62nd minute, capitalising on their numerical advantage. Samuel Chukwueze squared the ball for Raphael Onyedika, who showed composure to control and slot into the bottom left corner.
Five minutes later, Onyedika struck again to make it 3–0, drilling a low shot into the bottom right corner after latching onto Chukwueze’s cut-back following a quick move involving Onuachu.
Uganda, despite being reduced to 10 men, pulled one back in the 75th minute. Substitute Okello threaded a clever pass through to Mato, who calmly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Francis Uzoho to reduce the deficit.
The goal proved to be only a consolation as Nigeria comfortably saw out the closing stages to secure all three points.
The victory confirms Nigeria’s top spot in Group C with a maximum nine points, while Uganda finish bottom of the group and are eliminated from the tournament.
