The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Egypt $5,000 for failing to fulfil media obligations following their match against Zimbabwe, SunSports report.

Egypt’s players and technical crew declined to engage with journalists in the mixed zone after their 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe in a Group game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

CAF said the action constituted a clear breach of its media regulations, which require teams to make players and officials available for post-match media engagements.

The continental football body further warned the seven-time African champions that stiffer sanctions would be imposed should a similar incident occur in subsequent matches at the tournament.

Egypt are scheduled to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their second group fixture on Friday.
