The Allianz Arena in Munich has been confirmed as the host venue for the 2028 UEFA Champions League final, European football’s governing body announced on Friday.
The decision sets the stage for another showcase at Bayern Munich’s iconic home, while the battle to host the 2029 final is now between London’s Wembley Stadium and Barcelona’s renovated Camp Nou.
UEFA also clarified that plans to stage the prestigious event outside Europe — particularly in New York — are still under consideration and may not materialize before 2030.
“The declarations of interest are not binding, and the final proposals must be delivered with the bid dossiers by June 10,” UEFA said in an official statement.
The Allianz Arena last hosted the Champions League final in 2025, following Wembley’s staging of the 2024 edition. The Camp Nou, meanwhile, last held the competition’s showpiece in 1999, when Manchester United famously scored twice in stoppage time to defeat Bayern Munich 2–1.
This season’s final will take place at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, marking the first time Hungary has hosted the event.
