Port Harcourt – Rivers United head coach, Finidi George, has expressed confidence that his team remains firmly in the hunt for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, despite trailing league leaders Remo Stars.
With four matches left in the season, Rivers United sit in second place, seven points behind the top spot. The former Super Eagles winger believes the Port Harcourt-based club can still overtake Remo Stars in the final stretch of the campaign.
“Four games, that is 12 points. We still have two home matches,” Finidi told reporters. “We are trying to pile pressure on Remo. We will not relent, and we will see how we can go away and get something out of the Kano Pillars game.”
The coach, who took over the team earlier in the season, remains upbeat about their chances. “You can see that on my face, I’m always positive,” he added.
Rivers United are chasing their second NPFL title, having won the league in 2022.
