The match ended with a 1-1 draw.

Following their 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday, the Eric Chelle-led side aimed for another crucial win but failed to capitalize on their home advantage before a packed stadium.

Chelle retained the same starting lineup from the previous match, but the Super Eagles struggled to break down Zimbabwe’s resilient defense. The first half ended goalless despite Nigeria dominating possession.

Osimhen’s Goal Cancelled by Late Zimbabwe Equalizer
The breakthrough finally came in the 74th minute when Victor Osimhen rose highest to head home a well-delivered cross from Simon Moses, igniting celebrations among home fans. However, Zimbabwe struck back in added time with a dramatic equalizer, silencing the crowd and complicating Nigeria’s qualification hopes.

With the draw, the Super Eagles now face an uphill battle in their quest for a place at the 2026 World Cup, leaving little room for error in the remaining qualifiers.
