Nottingham Forest has opened contract negotiations with Nigeria international Ola Aina as the defender enters the final five months of his current deal, AllNigeriaSoccer.com reports.

Aina, who joined Forest as a free agent in the summer of 2023, is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club. Turkish champions Galatasaray have expressed interest in the versatile defender, while Manchester City has reportedly identified him as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker, who is on loan at AC Milan for the remainder of the season.
Despite transfer speculation, Aina will remain at Nottingham Forest until the end of the January window. However, his long-term future at the club remains uncertain as contract talks continue. Sources indicate that while discussions with the two-time European champions are ongoing, no agreement has been reached.
As it stands, Aina is more likely to extend his stay at the City Ground than leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
