Tottenham Hotspur have had a significant bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi rejected, as their London rivals remain unwilling to part ways with the England international before Monday night’s transfer deadline.

Spurs, who recently secured Kevin Danso in a £20.9 million deal from Lens, are keen to bolster their defensive options following Radu Dragusin’s serious knee injury. However, Palace are determined to keep Guehi until at least the summer, when he will have just one year left on his contract.

Palace Reluctant to Sell Guehi Mid-Season
Guehi, 24, has been a key figure for Crystal Palace since joining from Chelsea for £18 million in 2021, making 134 appearances and cementing his place in the England squad.

While Tottenham remain interested, they will likely face competition in the summer, with several top clubs expected to pursue the highly-rated centre-back.

Palace had already rejected four bids from Newcastle United for Guehi last summer, with the last offer reportedly worth around £65 million plus add-ons.

Tottenham’s Defensive Concerns
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou admitted on Sunday that his squad remains “a little bit short” in defence, with Dragusin expected to be sidelined for most of the season after suffering a knee injury against Elfsborg in the Europa League. The Romanian defender is set to see a specialist on Monday.

Despite their need for reinforcements, Spurs are not pursuing Chelsea’s Axel Disasi after the Blues demanded a loan fee of more than £5 million for the French defender.

Spurs Closing in on Daniel Batty
Meanwhile, Tottenham are set to announce the signing of 18-year-old Manchester City midfielder Daniel Batty before the transfer window closes.
