Premier League champions Manchester City has made a significant splash in the January transfer window, signing Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush for a fee of £59 million, with potential add-ons reaching £4 million.
The 25-year-old has penned a contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2029. Marmoush has been a revelation this season, netting an impressive 15 goals in just 17 Bundesliga games, trailing only Harry Kane’s 16 goals for Bayern Munich in the league’s scoring charts.
“A Dream Come True”
Speaking about his move to Manchester City, Marmoush expressed his delight:
“Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question. It’s a pleasure and an honour for me and my family to be representing Manchester City. It makes them happy; it makes me happy that my dreams are becoming a reality. The last two seasons have been great, but it is just the beginning for me.”
Marmoush’s arrival at Manchester City is expected to bolster Pep Guardiola’s attacking options, providing further competition for the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
A Significant Investment
The £59 million fee makes Marmoush one of the most expensive Egyptian players in history. This significant investment reflects Manchester City’s ambition to maintain their dominance both domestically and in Europe.
With the addition of Marmoush, Manchester City have made three signings in the January transfer window, having previously acquired defenders Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.
