Ikenne-Remo, Nigeria – Stand-in Head Coach of the Super Eagles B, Daniel Ogunmodede, has called up 26 players to commence a closed-camping exercise ahead of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.
The camp is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 6th, at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo.
The squad features prominent names, including team captain Nduka Harrison Junior, goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, defenders Sadiq Ismail and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, midfielder Saviour Isaac, and forward Sikiru Alimi.
Other invitees include goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, defenders Imo Obot and Stephen Manyo, midfielders Musa Zayyad, Rabiu Ali, and Papa Daniel Mustapha, as well as forwards Adamu Abubakar and Emmanuel Ogbole.
Historic Qualification
The Super Eagles B secured their place in the CHAN finals in emphatic fashion, defeating Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 in Uyo during the second leg of their qualification tie. This marked the first time Nigeria eliminated Ghana in the qualification series, following a goalless draw in the first leg in Accra.
About the 8th African Nations Championship
The 8th edition of the CHAN tournament, which exclusively features players from domestic leagues, will take place from February 1st to 28th. For the first time, the tournament will be co-hosted by three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
This edition serves as a test-run for the facilities and operational efficiency of the joint hosts ahead of the 36th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for 2027.
Participating Nations
The 2025 CHAN finals will feature 18 nations, including the hosts Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, as well as Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.
The Super Eagles B will aim to make a significant impact in the tournament, with preparations in full swing under the guidance of Coach Ogunmodede and his technical team.
